so I canNOT share something beautiful/interesting with the friends who do not speak English, for example, because the Russian translation sucks to death. I'm not even speaking of factual mistakes, I'm speaking about a most miserable collection of stylistic & linguistic anachronisms, lies and plain nonsense haphazardly thrown together & sold as a professional dub. even if you do not know the original, you will unmistakably know the translation sucks, 'cause it rapes Russian language, brutally.
ARGH.
[the icon's here only to express the bitter sentiment. Russian translation of H2, what I've seen of it, was more or less acceptable. it did not, at the very least, feel like an utter hack.]

oh, XF2.
there are several - a few - sensible people saying that the second movie is a heir to the series, with all its baggage, tradition, gameplay rules, good & bad sides... [and if you have seen that last part of the series, you know what a mess that is!] mind, not all of said people sing praise to the new film! and then there are many more people saying, "Oh, shut up about the series already, it is a movie we diss... discuss here."
those same people then proceed to complain about numerous bugs, disappointments, lame moments and how a tie custom-made for a tailored suit is not a proper garment.
*headdesk* and *facepalm*, is this strain of stupid contagious or what???

more writing- and readin-wise, of course there would be bumps. and sharp turns, and potholes, and whatnot. no-one sensible expects a smooth ride. but I just cannot stand this writer's trick of digging potholes & making bumps up. thing is, after a while the repetitive dance around an imaginary issue loses it. reminds me of therapy in the worst way imaginable, esp. when there are so many *real* possibilities to play with. *sigh*

"Северная сага" продолжает обрастать деталями. не иначе, к Долгой Зиме... оружие жителей крайнего севера, например, легко резало камень, ибо рассчитано было на врага, а у врага, как всем известно, каменное сердце. почему - не знаю. случилось так. у меня вообще скверное чувство, что эту историю я не придумываю (собственно, уже придумала - лет 10 назад), а раскапываю. Моргота из-под земли не ожидается, но опаска есть: что-то еще эти милые люди выкинут...

I am a snob.
I can deal with... uncanonical interpretations of facts or well-known stories, as long as said interpretations do not claim to be the shit rendering the original obsolete. so... I can enjoy 300, in clean conscience, for what it is, as far from any reality as possible. but a person a couple of years younger than me saying they saw the movie absolutely unspoiled, as in not having the slightest idea of the events referred, still manages to make me uncomfortable. since when ignorance = lack of bias?
